About the Recipe
Coffee-Braised Chicken Thighs are a delightful marriage of coffee’s robust flavors and tender chicken thighs. The slow braising process allows the coffee-infused marinade to permeate the chicken, resulting in a dish that is savory, aromatic, and perfect for those who enjoy a unique twist on classic comfort food.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
- 1 cup brewed coffee
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 stalks of celery, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 sprigs of thyme
- 2 sprigs of rosemary
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Preparation
- Marinate the Chicken Thighs:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the brewed coffee, chicken broth, chopped onions, chopped carrots, chopped celery, minced garlic, thyme sprigs, rosemary sprigs, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Place the chicken thighs in a shallow dish or a resealable bag. Pour the coffee marinade over the chicken, ensuring that the chicken is well coated. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sear the Chicken Thighs:
- Remove the chicken thighs from the marinade, reserving the liquid. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. In a large ovenproof pot or skillet, heat some oil over medium-high heat.
- Sear the chicken thighs on both sides until they are nicely browned.
- Braise the Chicken Thighs:
- Pour the reserved marinade over the seared chicken thighs. Cover the pot or skillet and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Braise the chicken thighs for about 40-45 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the meat is tender.
- Serve:
- Remove the Coffee-Braised Chicken Thighs from the oven. Serve hot, with the vegetables and braising liquid.
