About the Recipe

Coffee-Glazed BBQ Ribs are a delightful blend of coffee’s bold richness and the smoky goodness of barbecue ribs. This recipe offers a flavorful twist on traditional BBQ, making it a must-try for those who enjoy the unique fusion of coffee and smoky grilled meats.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Coffee BBQ Sauce:

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Prepare the Ribs:
    • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs.
    • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create a dry rub.
    • Rub the dry rub generously over the ribs. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to marinate.
  2. Preheat the Grill:
    • Preheat your grill to medium heat.
  3. Grill the Ribs:
    • Place the ribs on the preheated grill and cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours, turning occasionally, or until the meat is tender and begins to pull away from the bones.
  4. Make Coffee BBQ Sauce:
    • In a saucepan, combine brewed coffee, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
    • Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Glaze the Ribs:
    • Brush the ribs with the coffee BBQ sauce during the last 15-20 minutes of cooking, allowing the sauce to caramelize on the ribs.
  6. Serve:
    • Once the ribs are cooked to perfection and glazed with the coffee BBQ sauce, remove them from the grill.
    • Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before slicing.
