About the Recipe
Coffee-Marinated Tofu Skewers offer a unique twist on traditional tofu dishes by infusing them with the bold and aromatic flavors of coffee. These skewers are perfect for vegetarians and anyone looking to explore innovative, savory flavors.
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 14 oz (400g) extra-firm tofu
- 1/2 cup brewed coffee
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
Preparation
- Prepare the Tofu:
- Cut the tofu into cubes of your desired size. Pat the tofu dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Make the Marinade:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the brewed coffee, soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Mix well to create the marinade.
- Marinate the Tofu:
- Place the tofu cubes in a shallow dish or a resealable bag. Pour the coffee marinade over the tofu, making sure the tofu is well coated. Seal or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors infuse.
- Assemble the Skewers:
- Preheat your grill or broiler. Thread the marinated tofu onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Grill or Broil:
- Grill or broil the tofu skewers, turning them occasionally and brushing with any extra marinade, until they are browned and have a slight char, typically about 10-15 minutes.
- Serve:
- Once the tofu is cooked to your liking, remove it from the grill or broiler. Serve the Coffee-Marinated Tofu Skewers hot.
