Mocha Cupcakes are a delightful fusion of rich chocolate and the bold kick of coffee. Whether you’re a chocolate lover, a coffee enthusiast, or someone who appreciates the perfect pairing, these cupcakes are designed to satisfy your sweet cravings. The moist chocolate base, infused with the goodness of brewed coffee, is crowned with a heavenly mocha frosting, creating a symphony of flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

For the Cupcakes:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled

For the Mocha Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Preparation

For the Cupcakes:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the brewed coffee. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.

For the Mocha Frosting:

  1. In a large bowl, beat softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until well combined.
  3. Pour in the brewed coffee and vanilla extract. Beat on medium-high speed until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
