Transport yourself to the bustling cafes of Italy with our Espresso Granita. This frozen coffee delight captures the essence of intense espresso in every icy, granular bite.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for serving (optional)

Preparation

  1. Dissolve Espresso:
    • In a bowl, combine hot water and instant espresso powder. Stir until the espresso is completely dissolved.
  2. Sweeten the Espresso:
    • Add granulated sugar to the espresso mixture, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  3. Add Vanilla:
    • Mix in vanilla extract, ensuring it’s well incorporated.
  4. Freeze:
    • Pour the espresso mixture into a shallow dish and place it in the freezer.
  5. Scrape and Fluff:
    • After 1 hour, use a fork to scrape the frozen edges into the center. Repeat every 30 minutes until the entire mixture is granular and frozen.
  6. Serve:
    • Scoop the espresso granita into serving glasses. Top with whipped cream if desired.
