Ingredients
- cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 12 ounces (about 3 cups) fresh cranberries
- Zest of 1 orange
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
Preparation
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the fresh cranberries and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the orange zest, fresh orange juice, and a cinnamon stick if desired.
- Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Remove the cinnamon stick before serving.
