- 6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Preparation
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
