Instructions:

  1. Day 1: In a clean jar, mix 1/2 cup of flour and 1/4 cup of water until it forms a thick batter. Cover loosely with a cloth or lid and leave it at room temperature.
  2. Day 2: Check for bubbles, indicating fermentation. If present, discard half of the mixture and feed it with another 1/2 cup of flour and 1/4 cup of water.
  3. Days 3-7: Repeat the discard and feed process daily. By day 7, your starter should be bubbly and have a slightly tangy aroma, indicating it’s ready to use.

Tips:

  • Use filtered or non-chlorinated water to avoid inhibiting yeast growth.
  • Once established, you can store the starter in the fridge and feed it weekly.
