Create a Cozy Fall Home

As the crisp air begins to creep in and the leaves start their transformation into a canvas of golds and reds, I always find myself craving a sense of coziness and order in my home. There’s something about fall that makes me want to hunker down, light a pumpkin-scented candle, and get my space ready for the months ahead. Today, I’m sharing how I prepare for the cozy season with a good old-fashioned Fall Reset, and I hope it inspires you to do the same!

1. Organizing Your Wardrobe for Fall

First things first—it’s time to swap out those summer dresses and sandals for chunky sweaters, boots, and scarves. I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a sweater hoarder, and every year I swear I’m not buying any more… until I see that perfect, cozy cardigan that just has to come home with me!

One of my favorite things to do is organize my wardrobe by color. There’s something so satisfying about seeing all those autumn hues—browns, oranges, deep reds—lined up neatly in my closet. I also like to store my summer clothes in clear bins so I can easily see what’s inside when it’s time to make the switch again.

2. Refreshing Your Home Décor

Now that the wardrobe is in order, it’s time to give the home décor a little refresh. Fall is all about warmth, so I love bringing in cozy blankets, adding a few fall-themed throw pillows, and swapping out my lighter summer décor for something a bit more seasonal.

This year, I decided to tackle the décor storage in my garage. It was a bit like a treasure hunt—digging through boxes labeled “miscellaneous” and finding things I forgot I even had! After a bit of decluttering, I was able to organize everything into labeled bins: one for summer, one for fall, and one for those random “just in case” items.

3. Preparing Your Pantry for Fall Cooking

Fall is the season of hearty stews, warm apple pies, and pumpkin everything. To get ready, I like to give my pantry a good clean-out and stock it with all the fall essentials. There’s something so comforting about having a pantry full of spices, canned goods, and baking supplies, ready to go for all those cozy fall recipes.

One year, I realized halfway through a pie recipe that I was out of cinnamon—talk about a baking emergency! Now, I make sure to keep a checklist of pantry staples, so I’m never caught off guard again.

4. Decluttering Outdoor Spaces

As the weather cools down, I like to take some time to tidy up the outdoor spaces. This usually involves putting away the patio furniture, storing the garden tools, and giving the yard one last cleanup before winter sets in.

One fall, I left the garden tools out just a bit too long, and let’s just say, they were not happy come spring! Now, I’ve learned my lesson and make sure everything is neatly stored before the first frost.

5. Getting Ready for the Holiday Season

I know, I know—it might seem a bit early to think about the holidays, but trust me, a little early preparation can save a lot of stress later on. I like to start by organizing my holiday decorations, wrapping supplies, and gift lists. This way, when the festive season rolls around, everything is in its place, and I can actually enjoy the process.

Last year, I created a holiday planning binder, and it’s been a game-changer. It’s where I keep everything—from shopping lists to recipes to decoration ideas. It keeps me organized and helps me stay on top of things, so I can focus on the fun parts of the holidays.
