Presentation Tip
For extra elegance, serve in a shallow dish so the golden onion topping is fully visible. Garnish with a few fresh thyme leaves for a hint of color.

Instructions
-
Prepare the Green Beans
-
If using fresh green beans, blanch them in boiling water for about 3-5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking. Drain well and set aside.
-
Make the Sauce
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce (if using), and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
-
Assemble the Casserole
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the green beans and half of the crispy fried onions. Pour the mushroom sauce over the mixture and toss until everything is evenly coated.
-
Bake the Casserole
-
Transfer the mixture to a 9x9-inch (or similar-sized) baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes.
-
Add the Crispy Topping
-
Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining crispy fried onions on top. Return to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes or until the onions are golden and the casserole is bubbly.
-
Serve and Enjoy
-
Serve warm as a side dish. The casserole should be creamy with a crunchy onion topping.
