Cranberry Sauce with Orange Zest

Presentation Tip

Serve in a clear glass or crystal bowl to showcase the vibrant red color. Garnish with a twist of orange peel or fresh rosemary for a pop of contrast.

Cooking Method
Ingredients
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries (about 3 cups)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed for best flavor)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • Optional garnish: fresh rosemary or orange slices
Instructions
  1. Combine Ingredients
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and water. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Cook the Cranberries
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The cranberries will burst and the sauce will thicken.
  5. Add Orange Zest
  6. Stir in the orange zest toward the end of cooking. Continue simmering for a minute or two, allowing the zest to infuse.
  7. Cool and Thicken
  8. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
  9. Serve and Garnish
  10. Transfer the cranberry sauce to a serving dish and garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig or a slice of orange, if desired. Serve at room temperature or chilled.
