Coffee-Braised Short Ribs offer a delectable blend of coffee’s robust flavors and the succulence of beef short ribs. Slow-cooked to perfection, this dish is a great choice for special occasions when you want to impress your guests with a rich and savory masterpiece.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 4 beef short ribs
  • 1 cup brewed coffee
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

Steps:

  1. Marinate the Short Ribs:
    • In a large bowl, combine the brewed coffee, red wine, beef broth, chopped onions, minced garlic, thyme sprigs, bay leaves, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
    • Place the beef short ribs in a large resealable bag or a covered dish and pour the marinating mixture over them. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  3. Sear the Short Ribs:
    • Remove the short ribs from the marinade, reserving the liquid. Pat the short ribs dry with paper towels. In a large ovenproof pot or skillet, heat some oil over medium-high heat.
    • Sear the short ribs on all sides until they are browned and have a nice crust.
  4. Braise the Short Ribs:
    • Pour the reserved marinade over the seared short ribs. Cover the pot or skillet and transfer it to the preheated oven.
    • Braise the short ribs for about 3-4 hours or until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the short ribs from the braising liquid. Skim any excess fat from the liquid. You can serve the short ribs with the reduced braising liquid as a sauce.
